The location of Mimaru turned out be be perfect for us. Super close to the areas of Shibuya and Harajuku (5 min subway ride) and walking distance to Roppongi which in the end we didn't end up spending too much time in. You can even walk to Shibuya if you don't mind a longer (40 min) walk. The subway line that Akasaka is on can get you almost anywhere you are likely to want to go in the city without having to change, providing you don't mind a 10-15 minute walk at the other end, and are smart about planning your route. I'd recommend downloading an English subway map as PDF to your phone - and combining that with the public transport layer in Google or Apple Maps to work things out. The Akasaka subway entrance is a 3 min walk from the hotel. We went to Akihabara, Ginza, Asakusa and more on the subway, and took the subway every day with a few very reasonably priced taxis and Uber here and there. The Ubers are generally extremely lux in Tokyo incidentally. The cash fare on the subway to most places is around $1.10, so amazing value, and was much easier than figuring out pre-paid cards or mobile payment. Just remember to keep your coins on you (as change) and you can use them all up on the subway. The staff at Mimaru were very friendly and helpful and everything was clean, modern and worked well. We made use of the small kitchen and had no issues ordering food to the hotel for example using Uber Eats. You meet the driver downstairs. There is a humidifier in the room which we found we needed to make use of and keep topped up with water daily, or it did get a little dry in the room with the forced air heating system. The Japanese style toilet was amazing and we got so hooked on the heated seat and other benefits that we ended up bringing one home with us. Yodobashi camera in Akihabara is the place to go for this and other electronics. A random note is that unlike other countries you need to create a new account to use Amazon JP.

Hotel is well located as a base to explore Tokyo as the subway station is a short walk away and most major tourist sites are within a 20 minute ride. Conveniently, a 7-11 is directly across the street and a Family Mart and Lawsons are also a block away. Several restaurants nearby as well. The room was a decent size and suited our family’s needs. Liked that we had a larger sized refrigerator, stovetop, kettle and microwave. It was easy to do laundry on-site (three coin operated washers and dryers on lobby level of hotel). The best part was the staff - super nice, friendly, and accommodating. They were able to store our luggage for a few hours after checkout which was super helpful so we could sightsee before taking the shinkansen to Kyoto.

We stayed in the Japanese apartment because the kids wanted to experience sleeping in the futons and they loved it! Rooms were very clean and quiet, bed and pillows very comfortable. Nice complimentary toiletries available. The little kitchen has all you need to prepare small meals and there’s a 7/11 just across the street. It’s located just 5 minutes walking distance from the metro station in a lovely neighbourhood with many different restaurants and convenience shops around. Staff is super friendly and helpful. They were absolutely amazing when we forgot some documents in the safe after checkout and they got in touch to help sort it out. Would definitely stay here again!

Highly recommend staying here with young families. So much space for the kids to relax, play and enjoy some down time. Beds were comfortable. Staff were great and so helpful. Laundry facilities were available too and you can borrow an airer if you don’t want to use the dryer. Lovely quiet spot away from the hustle and bustle too. It’s a little far from the station with good connecting lines (esp with kids in prams) but I really appreciated the neighbourhood feel of the location and it being close to a couple of great playgrounds.

A bit pricey but on the other hand, it was difficult finding a place with appropriate sleeping arrangements for a family of 4 adults that didn't include sofa beds. Loved the spacious Japanese style tatami area, the fully equiped kitchen and the seperate toilet room. We also liked the hotel policy of not fully cleaning the room every day. Close to some convenience stores.
